My primary connection to the community is through teaching middle school with Richmond Public Schools. As an 8th grade Math and Science teacher I get to be a part of the process of guiding Richmond students on the path towards better education and better opportunities. Over the past several years I've gotten to get to know students, parents, and other members of the public education team. All of these interactions have helped me to better understand the needs of the community.
Prior to living in Richmond I completed both my B.S. and my M.A.Ed degree from the College of William and Mary. In undergrad I studied Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. My graduate degree is in Curriculum and Classroom Instruction. I currently live in the northern part of Church Hill in the same neighborhood as many of the students that I teach. As I get to know my neighbors and the city itself better, I become increasingly more convicted in my love for Richmond. I believe that running for the House of Delegates in the 71st district is a manifestation of my love for both the city of Richmond and the Commonwealth of Virginia. |
